only another mechanical device

A night in Kraków

So the M2’s custom covering kit arrived today all the way from Japan. It looks amazing, I can’t really tell the difference from the original vulcanite. The guys at Aki-Asahi know what they’re talking about. My M2 looks prettier than ever now!

I’ve been missing the look and feel of a Leica M body ever since I sold my Leica M6 TTL some time ago. So, when I saw this Leica M2 listed for a steal of a deal, only because of its ruined vulcanite covering, I took the plunge and bought it. The covering was not that ruined after all, perfectly usable if you will, but I decided to replace it nonetheless. Just to make this M2 even more beautiful and unique. So I ordered a wonderful and surprisingly cheap custom covering kit from Aki Asahi, Japan and waiting for it to arrive I ventured today into the much feared process or removing the existing vulcanite. It was not as easy as I thought it would be, it took me all morning to clean it up completely, and several applications of a paint removal gel, but eventually I managed to do what I think is a really fine job. I even re-painted the little screws on the front. There it is, my naked M2, almost freezing in the cold early spring afternoon. I’ll be sure to post a picture of it with its new custom cover, as soon as it arrives.
Just make it quick, Nakamura-san! :)

oh, hi there!

I went to Ólafur Arnalds concert in Rome and it was a really nice experience. I was so close to the stage, actually I was sitting on it, so I could take some pretty intimate pictures of the violoncellist. The little X100 did a magnificent work in such a low light environment!

No matter how much I play with digital cameras and files, nothing can compare to the joy of checking out your freshly cut 120 negatives on a light box

X100 does star trails too
